ALUMINIUM:- The Slow POISON.
Aluminium is the third most abundant element known on EARTH after Oxygen and Silicon. It is a chemical element with the symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery-white, soft, non-magnetic and ductile metal in the boron group. By mass, aluminium is the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust and the third most abundant element.
Symbol: Al
Atomic mass: 26.981539 u
Atomic number: 13
Density: 2.7 g/cm³
Electron configuration: [Ne] 3s²3p¹
Melting point: 660.3 °C.
It is used in a huge number of products like tin, foil, can etc. It is also used in sweets, wrapping food material. These have been started since 19th century and is very popular due to its cheap
cost and non-sticking properties. These are good conductor of heat also. We know that it is cheaper to buy but it results in costlier to our health/ body.
ACTUALLY WHAT HAPPENS?
When we cook food or pack it in aluminium pots or vessels, A certain amount of aluminium is leached out of it [ mostly from old utensils ]. The longer the food is kept in it, the maximum leaching took place and gradually acidity of food increases.
Other sources such as tin, cans, toothpaste, poor quality tetra packs, pre-cut vegetables, chips; all these are packed in ALUMINIUM.
EFFECTS:-
It acts as a slow poison. It causes HYPERACIDITY, PEPTIC ULCERS, INDIGESTION, SKIN problems.
It is also known as Cancer causing.
CONTRADICTORY FACTS:-
It is often considered as that Aluminum does not dissolve in food but it can be disproved by boiling it in water.
